Internships FAQ

  1. What seasons do you hire interns for?
    1. We hire for mainly summer but will also accept co-ops throughout the year depending on need.
  2. How long are internships?
    1. We ask for a full 10-week commitment, and the standard length is 12 weeks. Longer term co-ops are also available
  3. When can I apply for the program?
    1. We are accepting applications from September 2nd, 2022 until November 6th, 2022. Additional application windows may be opened depending on need.
  4. Who is eligible to apply for a Relativity internship?
    1. Undergrad students entering their 3rd year are eligible, as well as Masters and PhD students. These individuals must be US-persons.
  5. Do you hire non-US persons or students with visas?
    1. Regrettably, Relativity, as a registered member with the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls and in compliance with International Trafficking of Arms Regulations, is unable to employ non-US persons. (Candidates in the process of receiving a green-card are also ineligible until green-card is received). Please check your eligibility here.
  6. Will housing be provided for non-locals?
    1. Yes, a housing stipend will be provided as one lump-sum amount if we require you to relocate and physically be onsite for your internship.
  7. Are these internships paid?
    1. Yes, rates are dependent on grade level and function.
  8. What is the interview process like?
    1. Typically, there are two technical screenings. Follow-up calls may be scheduled.
  9. When can I expect to hear back from Relativity Space after applying?
    1. Due to the volume of applicants we receive for our internship openings, we are unable to personally respond to each applicant. After the application window closes, we expect to contact those in consideration in the late October/early November time frame.
  10. What majors does Relativity Space hire for?
    1. There are positions open in all of our engineering departments, which include: aerospace, mechanical, electrical, software, materials science, physics, computer science, and any other related majors.
  11. What is Relativity’s selection criteria for interns?
    1. We look for interns who exhibit our company values: Audacity, Humanity, Relentlessness, and Wonder. Aside from that, we also look for people who exhibit a passion for what they are doing through build & design groups, student clubs, and personal/class projects.
  12. Can I apply to multiple openings?
    1. Yes, feel free to apply to multiple openings, but make sure to target teams around your major/interests.
  13. Which locations are you hiring interns for?
    1. Long Beach, California (HQ)
    2. NASA Stennis Space Center in Mississippi, (Test Site)
    3. Cape Canaveral, Florida (Launch Site)
  14. How do I apply?
    1. View our openings here. Choose the department you are interested in and select opening(s) that you would like to be considered for within that department. It is recommended that you choose openings which best align with your area of study/skill set.
  • A current student enrolled in a college or university. You must have at least one semester left of school in order to be considered for an internship.

  • We do not typically hire freshmen, but you are welcome to apply. 

  • We encourage all students currently enrolled in a college or university to apply. 

  • Interns at Relativity engage in meaningful projects that make a real impact. They are given opportunities to work on critical tasks that contribute to the overall goals of the organization. By collaborating with experienced professionals, interns not only gain valuable hands-on experience but also see their contributions drive significant progress. 

  • Interns receive a lump sum stipend to support their living expenses during their internship. Additionally, we provide a comprehensive housing guide to help them find suitable accommodations near our office. This guide includes recommendations for various housing options and important information about the area. 

  • All our internships are fully onsite at one of our three office locations – Long Beach, CA, Stennis, MS, or Cape Canaveral, FL. 

  • Thorough preparation is key to success. Start by researching our company and understand our values, culture, and the specific internship you are applying for. Brush up on your technical knowledge and skills. Most importantly, be yourself and show us your genuine excitement about Relativity. 

  • Focus on showcasing your unique strengths and experiences. Highlight specific achievements and instances where you demonstrated leadership and collaboration. Additionally, demonstrate your enthusiasm by asking insightful questions and showing genuine interest in the company. 

  • Our intern interviews typically consist of 2 technical interviews with our engineering teams. We use a mix of questions that help us get to know you, your background and skills, and understand your fundamental knowledge of engineering principles. 

  • If our team is interested in your application, you will hear back from us within 2-4 weeks to schedule an interview. Keep in mind we receive many applications and do our best to reply in a timely manner.
